OpenAI / Anthropic / Google product and model updates; 🛡 = security-relevant
OpenAI
- Released the in-house Jalapeñoinference chip (7/1), cutting inference costs and reducing reliance on external GPUs.
- Bringing in heavyweight executives ahead of the IPO to accelerate commercialization.

Anthropic
- Claude Sonnet 5(7/1) — its most agentic model to date: can autonomously use a browser and terminal, approaching Opus 4.8 performance at markedly lower cost; safety evaluations show a lower rate of undesirable behavior than Sonnet 4.6.
Introducing Claude Sonnet 5 - Claude Fable 5 redeployed globally(after the U.S. lifted export controls), with new additions:
- Cybersecurity classifier: blocks >99% of a particular class of cyber-jailbreak techniques; blocked requests are handed off to Opus 4.8 and the user is notified;
- Draft jailbreak-severity framework(proposed jointly with Glasswing partners including Amazon / Microsoft / Google);
- A HackerOnechannel for researchers to report cyber jailbreaks.

- Claude Science(6/30) — an AI workbench for researchers that integrates commonly used tools/packages, produces auditable results, and offers elastic compute.
Claude Science
Google DeepMind / AI
- Nano Banana 2 Lite— the fastest, most cost-effective image-generation model.
- Gemini Robotics-ER 1.6integrated into Boston Dynamics' Spot robot dog and the Orbit AI visual-inspection platform.

Security takeaways
This round, Anthropic treats "cyber jailbreaks" as an engineering problem that can be graded, reported, and blocked by classifier (classifier + severity framework + HackerOne) — a rare systematic move on AI offense/defense by a frontier lab; worth tracking whether the framework can become an industry standard. Meanwhile, prompt injection still tops the OWASP LLM list with no complete fix — the more agentic the capability, the larger the indirect-injection attack surface.
