Updates from OpenAI / Anthropic / Google. This issue is mainly a roundup of "recent verifiable developments" (dates noted); no major new product launches on the day itself. 🛡 = security-related.

OpenAI

  • Open-weight models gpt-oss-120b / 20b: the 120b runs on a single GPU with performance close to o3 / o4-mini, while the 20b runs locally on a high-end consumer laptop, lowering the barrier to local inference. (Source)
  • Safety Bug Bounty (launched 2026-03, ongoing): a dedicated "safety" bounty program run through Bugcrowd, with an annual pool of roughly $1M, covering prompt injection, guardrail jailbreaks, training-data leakage, agentic/MCP risks, and the OWASP LLM Top 10. (Source)

Anthropic

  • Claude Fable 5 released (2026-06-09): a new-generation reasoning model with a 1M-token context window is live; there are also unconfirmed rumors of a Claude Sonnet 4.8, which should not be used as a basis for planning. (Source)
  • Claude-assisted vulnerability discovery: in 2026-03 FreeBSD published CVE-2026-4747 (RPCSEC_GSS RCE), crediting "Nicholas Carlini using Claude, Anthropic"; on 2026-04-03 NVD published CVE-2026-31402 (Linux kernel NFS replay-cache heap overflow), which public reporting links to Claude-assisted discovery — AI-assisted vulnerability research has entered real-world practice. Google DeepMind / AI

  • Gemini 3.5 Flash GA / 3.5 Pro: 3.5 Flash reached GA at Google I/O 2026 (2026-05-19), priced at $1.50 / $9.00 per million tokens via API; 3.5 Pro is advancing in June (no specific date given). (Source)
  • AlphaEvolve expands: the Gemini-powered coding agent's impact now extends into genomics, quantum physics, mathematics, and business scenarios (e.g., a 30% reduction in DNA sequencing error detection). (Source)

Security Roundup

  • OpenAI's Safety BB plus HackerOne AI vulnerability reports up +540% (prompt injection) / +200% (AI overall)year over year: AI bounties are currently the fastest-growing segment in security.
  • Claude-assisted discovery of real FreeBSD / Linux kernel CVEs: LLMs can now produce verifiable results in kernel-level vulnerability research, and both offense and defense need to reassess.
  • External AI security incident this issue: GitHub Copilot implicit prompt injection → RCE (CVE-2025-53773, CVSS 9.6) once again confirms the injection risk of agentic coding tools (see the AI security section of the main brief).
